AISV administers government funding and manages Specific Purpose Programmes for Victoria’s 210 independent schools.

In February 2005, AISV signed an agreement with the Australian Government for the 2005-2008 funding period – to administer Targeted Programmes Funding for all Victorian independent schools.

The Australian Government provided $15.8 million in 2004 for Specific Purpose Programmes and the Victorian Government contributed $1.2 million. AISV administered the funds taking into account:

• Commonwealth Programmes for Schools Quadrennial Administrative Guidelines 2001 to 2004
• Programme aims set by the Australian Government
• Victorian Government initiatives
• Policy directions set by the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment, Training and Youth Affairs
• The National Goals for Schooling.
